Protect the Trees

๐๐ฒDid you know that 1.5 acres (6,070 square meters) of forest are cut down every second?
๐โป๏ธStrategies to help reduce and prevent deforestation:
1. Plant a tree and/or donate to tree-planting organisations๐ด. Join a community forestry project.
2. Use less paper/cardboard & recycle the paper/cardboard you do use. Use reusable shopping bags and reusable products rather than single-use products.
3. Buy recycled paper & cardboard products. Reduce usage of paper towels and paper dishes. Also think of ways to upcycle paper rather than throwing it away. Buy recycled toilet paper and recycled paper towels.
4. Purchase sustainable wood products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Don't support unsustainable or illegal logging. Global Forest Watch created an app called Forest Watcher. It helps monitor intact & protected forests near you. This allows you to collect information and report illegal logging if you come across it.
5. Avoid buying products containing palm oil. It is disguised in many products from food to beauty products. Opt for alternatives.
6. Reduce meat consumption. Lowering global meat demand will prevent further deforestation for cattle raising. 70% of the amazon rainforest is being cleared for cattle ranches.
7. Raise awareness. Tell your friends and family about the ways to reduce global deforestation. Research ways you can make a difference around you.
8. Fight government corruption. Elect politicians who appreciate and respect mother nature.
9. Support organisations that are fighting deforestation like Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund, Rainforest Alliance, Amazon Watch, Conservation International, and many more.
8. Be classy ๐ง, use a handkerchief instead of tissues.
9. Print wisely. Sign up for paperless billing. Opt for paperless subscriptions.
10. Hug a tree ๐ณ. They have feelings too.
