🐝🍯Did you know bees are responsible for one in every three mouthfuls you eat?

Besides the delicious honey that bees make, they are so important because they pollinate so much of our food and the food of many other animals and birds. Bees are vital to wildlife habitats and wild plant growth. They contribute to biodiversity like no other being on earth.

Currently bees are threatened by chemical companies that produce harmful pesticides and also from habitat destruction/loss. To reverse world bee decline, we must fix our dysfunctional and destructive agricultural system

🐝🌍 Strategies to save the bees:

1. Support local beekeepers and organizations. Buy locally made honey and beeswax products.

2. Donate to support bee conservation organisations like Bees for Development, Pollinator Partnership, The Nature Conservancy, Save the Elephants and many more.

3. Plant a bee garden. Bees lack safe habitats where they can build homes and find a variety of nutritional food sources.

4. Go chemical free. Don't use synthetic pesticides, fertilisers, herbicides and neonicotinoids in your gardening. Use organic products and natural solutions like compost to aid soil health.

5. Become a citizen scientistπŸ€“! Join a global movement to collect data on your favorite bees. Gather photos and other information about native bees and upload them to the iNaturalist app. This can help identify opportunities to nurture bee populations.

6. Provide trees for bees. Bees get most of their nectar from trees. Tree leaves and resin give bees nesting material and natural wood cavities make great shelters.

7. Create a bee bath. Bees work up a sweat while working, provide them with a bowl of water to drink! Make sure to add a stone or a material that will break the surface of the water to give them an area to land. Bees can't walk on water like Jesus!

8. Plant flowers that bees love like tulips, daisy's, lavender, phacelia, thyme, buckwheat, sunflowers, marigold, rosemary, dill, coriander, alfalfa and many more.

9. Bee informed! Spread awareness about the importance of bees🐝🍯.
